Does capoeira have a graduation system?

Like the rest of martial arts, capoeira has its own system of cordas “belts” based on the same colours as the Brazilian flag, the colour of the 'en slaved africans’ skin and their blood that was spilt in combat.

Each group of capoeira has its own belt’s system that is determined by its Mestre “master” who is the person in charge of the promotion ceremony called Batizado, where every capoeirista “student of capoeira” gets their name of war or nick name.

The lower grades for capoeiristas under 15. Once the student turns 15 years old they will be able to transfer to the equivalent adult belt that they earned prior.

Remember: the grade of your belt reflects your experience and dedication to your training.
