OUR MASTER: MESTRE CAOLHO

OSCAR JARAMILLO was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1976. At the age of 12 he started practicing at school Taekwondo under the leadership of Sergio Leon Martinez (Black Belt 3d Dan), Juan Carlos muñoz “KIO” (Black Belt 3d Dan) and Fabian Gonzales (Black Belt 2d Dan) for the INEM Taekwondo Club. In 1990 he started to practice Capoeira with different Brazilian Masters.

Over the years he participated in different tournaments winning three gold medals in the Pan-American championships. He also won two gold, two silver and three bronze medals in the State championships and he became one of the most promising athletes in Colombia.

In 1998 he achieves his Black Belt in Taekwondo at the INEM Taekwondo Club where he is an active member, also that year he became a Capoeira Instructor. In 2001 he opens his first Capoeira School in Medellin Colombia where he taught kids with learning difficulties.

In 2003 he travels to Brazil where he receives his grade as Professor of Capoeira also that year he travels to Venezuela and establishes a Group of Capoeira “Okaras” becoming the first person who introduces the art of Capoeira in North of Santader (Colombia) and the east of Venezuela where he has won several medals in open tournaments of martial arts.

In 2006 he receives his grade of Contra-Mestre of Capoeira and opens an academy in the north of Ecuador and Peru and in In 2009 he achieves the grade of Mestre of Capoeira.

This professional bussines man is a graduate of civil engineering and manages his own Steel framing company, father of a son and beloved husband he keeps teaching the art of Capoeira at his School in the city of Cucuta, Colombia and despite vision problems (he is partially blind) which made his war/nick name CAOLHO (Cyclops) as a joke, he has shown great ability in combat. He has been challenged on uncountable occasions to show how effective Capoeira can be in a real fight and still today he has never been defeated.
